Dear 2016

There have been parts of you, truly amazing.

Seeing Complex Girls take flight.

Being in the most crude politically incorrect Christmas show with a feminist theme ever at Finest City Improv

But you took some people this year that were pretty inspirational to this artist

Put some real creeps in power

And it’s not over yet

Can’t say that I’m not weary from it

Can’t say that I’ve even dealt with my father’s death yet

But I can say that good on you for exposing the truth

A lot of us woke up

And are staying woke

Not much time left on this sphere

Have to say we’re gonna give ’em hell

Hold hands while we watch the waves of destruction headed for us

Here we go

New Play Cafe Presents Legends (in ten minutes or less)

My theatre company opens next weekend!

We put out the call to playwrights to write a short play on the theme “Legends” to write a 2 person play. Because we did a blind submission and I was the one responsible for uploading those submissions, I was able to sneak in a play I wrote called “The Gospel According to Jess” and it got in!

It’s so great to see the diverse takes on the theme of Legends. We have the supernatural, urban legends and what it means to be legendary. Come see the shows! For complete information and tickets visit the link here:

not a color

but an energy

it’s own source

it’s own means

it exists

wants you to know

regardless if you believe

it’s here

not leaving

in your viens

your heart

your soul

letting you know

it exists

you exist

live live live

its says

live live live

take a breath

live live live

there is something beyond this body

the vehicles that got you here

the memories the pain the tears

none of it is real

except this pulse

this vibration

this being

is you

and you are beyond all of these things

and you are beyond all of these things

and you are beyond all of these things

you are made of this

this red

this energy

this pulsation

this vibration

this beat

this flow

this now

this you

to do what you came to do.

Simple Sexy Food Part 2: Arugula Parmesan Salad with Honey Vinaigrette

You can get all the ingredients at Trader Joes.

It’s so yummy and easy you’ll wonder if you could just eat this every day and if anyone else in the house would mind if that happened.

Here you go:

1/2 a bag of Arugula

Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes 5-6 chopped

Parmesan Cheese (the powdery kind) 1/4 c or less

Red Onion about 1/8th chopped

Sweet little bell peppers 2 or 3 chopped

Toasted sunflower seeds 1/8 c (if you by them raw you can do it yourself in the toaster oven just before serving)

Dressing (makes enough for 2 servings)

1/4 c. Apple Cider Vinegar

3/4 c. Olive Oil

1-2 TBSP. Honey

1-2 TBSP. Water

Salt & Pepper to Taste

Take all salad ingredients, chop bell peppers, tomatoes and onions. Sprinkle Parmesan on top.  Add Sunflower seeds.

Take all dressing ingredients and whisk until blended.  Drizzle over salad. Toss.

I used 1/2 my bag and ended up eating most of the salad part and had leftover tomatoes, onion and dressing in the bottom. I just added more arugula and had more salad. Enjoy.
